EAB’s long-term commitment to Smålandsstenar is well known. We are now taking the next step in our journey by creating the steel construction factory of the future, a modern facility designed for efficiency, sustainability, quality, and continuous improvement.

The background to the investment is EAB’s strong expansion in recent years. The company has grown across all three business areas—Warehouse Solutions, Doors and Steel Construction—which has led to existing facilities no longer being sufficient.

“We have grown significantly and were starting to run out of space. The acquisition of LGL Construction in autumn 2024 was an important step in strengthening our offering within steel construction. When the opportunity arose to also acquire an adjacent property, it felt entirely right to bring both EAB’s and LGL’s operations together under one roof,” says Sven-Gunnar Andersson, co-owner of EAB and member of the project steering group.

The new factory enables a more flexible and efficient delivery model, where the entire steel construction offering is brought together and further developed.

The ambition is to create clear synergies between EAB and LGL and to strengthen our integrated offering. We now simply refer to the new facility as Steel Construction,” says Alexander Andersson, CEO of LGL Construction and Business Area Manager for EAB Steel Construction.

“It feels both important and strategically right to continue investing, even in times characterised by uncertainty.”

Lean production, digitalisation and sustainability in focus

The new facility is being developed with modern working methods and future industrial production requirements in mind.

“This is an initiative where we are working with lean-driven efficiency optimisation, increased employee involvement and a strong focus on quality. Through data-driven planning and structured improvement processes, we are building an operation that is prepared for the future, with high flexibility and scalability to adapt to changing needs and external conditions,” says Tom Adolfsson, CEO of EAB AB and also a member of the steel construction project steering group.

Sustainability is a central part of the project, both in production and in customer solutions.

“Sustainability is about both how we build and how we work. We want to make it easy for our customers to choose smart and climate-conscious solutions, while also creating a bright, pleasant and ergonomic working environment for our employees.”

A strengthened offering in a growing market

EAB Steel Construction is a market leader in southern Sweden and a well-established player nationwide. LGL Construction complements this with a strong brand and long-standing customer relationships. Together, the companies are strengthening their offering and meeting stable demand, where projects are becoming larger and more technically complex. The new factory is a clear response to this development.

By bringing together the entire process—from design and engineering to manufacturing, logistics and installation—EAB creates an efficient and integrated flow.

“Our turnkey delivery is one of our greatest strengths. It ensures high quality, shorter lead times and strong cost control. It is also a key reason why we maintain long-term customer relationships and a high level of repeat business,” says Tom Adolfsson.

80,000 square metres and continued development

Following the integration of EAB’s and LGL Construction’s operations, the total site area in Smålandsstenar will amount to approximately 80,000 m².

Full operation of the new steel construction factory is expected to commence after the summer of 2027. Office relocation has already begun.

“The investment in Steel Construction not only strengthens that business area, but also creates new opportunities for our other operations. As we free up space, we can take the next step in developing both Warehouse Solutions and Doors,” says Tom Adolfsson.
